Iowa Virtual Academy (IAVA) is a full-time online public school for K–12 students. We’re dedicated to inspiring and empowering students through an education experience tailored to each child’s needs.

Our Story

IAVA is open to full-time, Iowa residents in grades K–12. We offer a personalized approach to education, Iowa-licensed teachers, concurrent enrollment with Northeast Iowa Community College, and career-focused electives.

The Support You and Your Student Need

Our teachers are committed to helping your family succeed with online learning. They provide instruction and support as your child works through the curriculum. And they keep the lines of communication open through email, phone, online “Class Connect” sessions, and online and in-person activities. You’ll also receive textbooks and other hands-on materials delivered right to your door! These offline materials complement the interactive online elements of the lessons and vary by grade and course.

Mission and Goals

The mission of the IAVA is to personalize learning for each student and prepare all students for productive and healthy lifestyles in a diverse global society. The Clayton Ridge Board of Education adopted seven goals for the IAVA.

1. Each student receives a dynamic personal education plan designed to meet challenging academic goals while building confidence and self-efficacy.

2. Each student is assigned a learning team (i.e., primary teacher, learning coach, parent if other than the learning coach, school administrator, and guidance counselor) to encourage learning to happen in a variety of ways from multiple sources.

3. Each student learns essential knowledge and skills at their instructional pace in each core content area.

4. Each student participates in social learning techniques to build knowledge using collaborative skills and teamwork.

5. Each student participates in service-learning projects that benefit the global community.

6. Each student demonstrates knowledge and skills for family and friends at special events and performances (i.e., arts, crafts, music recitals, poetry, special projects, student products, collected artifacts, etc.).

7. Each student maintains an educational portfolio tracking academic progress, summarizing involvement in school clubs or civic organizations, describing field experiences related to the taught curriculum, and an annual review of short-term and long-term goals reviewed by the primary teacher, school guidance counselor, parent or learning coach.

At K12 Private Academy, we’re focused on the individual and their unique needs.

Each full-time student (and their Learning Coach, often a parent or guardian) is surrounded by a team of committed teachers, counselors, and academic coaches to ensure they are taking the necessary steps to achieve their true potential. School Opening and Location

MU Prep held its inaugural first day of school on August 3, 2022, for Indiana residents only. For the 2023–2024 school year, MU Prep has expanded to offer our innovative, virtual full-time enrollment to students in grades K–10 in more than 30 states. We will also offer grades 11 and 12 in the coming years. MU Prep-Indiana offers a fully virtual program to students across the state and a hybrid learning option, including in-person learning at Marian University in the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana. Conveniently located, the beautiful campus is an inspiring place to learn and reflect. MU Prep hopes to expand hybrid learning models to other locations in the future.

At GCPA, your child can experience an education that empowers them to shape their own path and pursue their passions. GCPA welcomes students from across the United States as well as from select countries. We serve a range of diverse learners who are looking for a full-time education solution in grades K-10. We also have opportunities for part-time learners who are looking to enroll in individual courses.

We structure our classrooms around a seminar-based approach, where instruction is collaborative and discussion-focused. Students are guided through interactions to talk about the topic at hand in order to drive learning and shape how the children think, ask questions, and respond.
