Our Story

At Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA), your child can learn in the ways that are right for them—at home, on the road, or wherever there’s an internet connection. MGLVA is open to full-time Michigan residents in Pre-K thru 12 grades. We offer a full suite of academic and school support services, career and college prep for grades 6–12, and adherence to required state testing.

Get Ahead With Career and College Prep

Although the future can seem far off, students who begin preparing for careers in middle and high school can gain significant advantages. Students can explore career fields to discover and pursue their interests. Whether they already know where they’re headed or are just beginning to find their path, this program can help get them where they want to go. Career fields include Business Management, Health Science, Information Technology, Finance, and Marketing.

Insight School of Michigan (ISMI) is a fully accredited, public virtual charter school, authorized by Central Michigan University, specializing in credit deficient students between 16 –22 years of age. We work with students and their families to help them overcome obstacles with a unique and highly supportive approach. Our experienced teachers and counselors inspire students to work hard and succeed.

Our Story

ISMI is open to full-time, Michigan residents in grades 9–12 who are age 21 and younger. We offer credit recovery courses, block scheduling, an individualized career plan, and a social and emotional learning program.

Our teachers are committed to helping your family succeed with online learning. They provide instruction and support as your child works through the curriculum. And they keep the lines of communication open through email, phone, online “Class Connect” sessions, and online and in-person activities. You’ll also receive textbooks and other hands-on materials delivered right to your door! These offline materials complement the interactive online elements of the lessons and vary by grade and course.

Personalized Approach

At Insight School of Michigan (ISMI), we believe in unlocking every student’s potential, no matter what challenges they have faced or may still be facing. We couple proven teaching techniques with interactive, online learning to help students feel engaged, empowered, and challenged.

By incorporating audio, video, live chat, printed materials, and group interactions into the curriculum, our students can learn in the ways that work best for them. Class Connects provide one-to-one student–teacher meetings and live instructional sessions.

To address each student’s individual needs, we give them a benchmark test to assess their skills in various subjects. From there, we develop an Individualized Career Plan to place students in appropriate courses, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and chart their progress.

We also help students map out career and higher education goals by offering a college and career planning tool and personalized support.

At Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan (HVAM), your child can learn in the ways that are right for them—at home, on the road, or wherever there’s an internet connection. HVAM is open to full-time Michigan residents in grades K Prep–12. We offer a personalized approach to education; dual enrollment opportunities with Early Middle College; honors and credit recovery courses, plus career-focused electives; and adherence to required state testing.

Subjects of Study

Language arts/English, math, science and history are core courses. There are also other courses in the appropriate grade levels such as art, health/PE, music, and world languages. High school students also have access to honors courses and electives.

School Opening and Location

MU Prep held its inaugural first day of school on August 3, 2022, for Indiana residents only. For the 2023–2024 school year, MU Prep has expanded to offer our innovative, virtual full-time enrollment to students in grades K–10 in more than 30 states. We will also offer grades 11 and 12 in the coming years. MU Prep-Indiana offers a fully virtual program to students across the state and a hybrid learning option, including in-person learning at Marian University in the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana.
